ID: Alicia Claus (Secret)
History:In 2006, young Alicia died in a tragic plane crash. She and her father were close and had been since he raised her after her mother's death when she was young. Alicia was a cheerful girl and the light of her father's life. When she died, he snapped and became consumed with something... unholy. An archaeologist, Alicia's father had discovered some things that would lead him to attempt a ritual to bring his beloved daughter back to life. He traveled to a distant land to perform the ritual, which involved sacrificing his own life (yet remaining in a Purgatory, unable to die and unable to live, trapped, impaled on the horns of the demonic gateway forever) to bring Alicia back. Alicia remembered none of this after her resurrection.
Unfortunately, opening that demonic gateway allowed the demon world to flood into ours. One year after Alicia's death, Earth became a battleground as demons large and small, of all shapes and terrible powers, invaded the mortal world intent on destroying and subjugating mankind. In less than a year, our population was reduced to less than a billion and hope quickly faded. A long, bloody war would lead to extinction or total subjugation.
Enter Alicia. Rumors spread of a mysterious woman, beautiful, clad in black, wielding demonic powers of her own yet fighting against the demons. This "witch" was Alicia, gifted with incredible magic powers and an artifact, the broom-like Gun Rod, which could take many configurations and even be enchanted with elemental energies. Alicia traveled across the war-torn landscape, saving people and destroying demons wherever possible.
Ultimately, her quest led her to the truth, to the demonic gateway and her father trapped in unholy stasis. After coming to grips with what her own resurrection had meant, and asking him why he couldn't have left her dead, Alicia killed her father, freeing him and closing the demonic gateway. That stopped the incoming flood of demons, but there were still many to deal with. Alicia then went on to face Omega, a gigantic red, horned demon with terrible powers, one that had haunted her for a long time and corrupted a great city by its very presence.
After a pitched battle, Alicia brought Omega down with the help of human soldiers. She freed that city to see the sunrise once more, but elected to continue her fight across the world.
Personality:Alicia is a young woman torn by strong emotions. She wants to help the world and fight the demons, and feels burdened to do so by the demonic power she wields. She also feels guilt and sadness over the fact that it was her own death that led to her father breaking the seal and ruining the world. Yet at the same time, Alicia is hopeful and vigilant, approaching the battle and her life with the undeniable optimism of a young woman. When provoked, she can be quiet fierce and prone to frightening displays of anger.
Abilities and Resources:Alicia has tremendous power, even if she's a bit frail. Her return also gave her an ally in the Darkness, some kind of demonic presence that resides within her mind and grants her power and information. Though the Darkness seems to think little of humans, it nevertheless helps Alicia in her fight. Why this is has yet to be discovered; it could have its own agenda or it could simply be sick of the twisted demon world.
Over the course of her adventure, Alicia gains many new spells and abilities for the Gun Rod.
Witchcraft:Meteor is Alicia's most powerful spell, and the most dangerous. Once cast, it can level entire city blocks, bringing down buildings and demons alike—or allies who are caught in the path of destruction. Alicia must be careful when unleashing her full power because the collateral damage is tremendous.
Tornado does what it says on the tin: it summons a tornado that tears a swathe of mayhem through anything in its path, sucking up enemy soldiers, vehicles, small buildings and scattering them as dust on the wind.
Lightning summons a hail of destructive lightning bolts, culminating in one massive strike that destroys almost anything.
Rose Spear is a smaller area attack, wherein Alicia throws a rose at a group of enemies, and spikes erupt beneath them, impaling them for damage and immobilizing them briefly even if they survive.
With
Raven's Panic, Alicia summons a large flock of ravens to harry and confuse her foes, potentially leaving them defenseless for further attack.
Willpower is a telekinetic blast that, at its most powerful, can throw even heavy object like semi trucks, city buses and tanks like children's toys, crushing those demons unfortunate enough to get in the way.
Sacrifice lets Alicia heal humans at the cost of her own health.
Ancient Wall summons up a rune-covered stone wall to shield Alicia from enemy fire.
The
Gun Rod can be enchanted to deal elemental damage depending on which form it takes:
Machine Gun is the standard form, a fast and supernaturally-powerful hail of bullets. It can cut down enemies quickly and works well at all ranges. It can be enchanted to use the fire descriptor.
Shotgun is, naturally, a more powerful form for close-quarters battle. It has little range but great stopping power. Its enchantment is the wind descriptor.
The
Cannon form is an anti-tank (and sometimes anti-helicopter) weapon, useful against machines of all kinds. It is less powerful when dealing with (un)living demons, however. When enchanted, the Cannon uses lightning.
Finally, the Gun Rod's
Gatling Gun form is pure power. It's fast, it's very strong, but it slows Alicia down to wield it. The Gatling enchantment is thunder.
