Milestones:DEVIL HUNTERYou use your great power responsibly, but not without a deluge of wisecracks for your enemies. As a half-devil yourself, you know what it means to be both human and devil and embody the best of both. You protect the world from evils on both sides of the coin.1 XP when you take on a new case, or when you meet a new enemy or ally on a case.
3 XP when you protect a human from devilish evil or when you ally with a decent devil.
10 XP when you complete a case, or when you show mercy to a demonic enemy.
HOT-HEADEDYou are young and reckless. You might think you're invincible or that you know everything, but sometimes you need a painful reminder that there's long way to go before you can fill your father's noble shoes.1 XP when your attitude angers someone new or gets you in trouble.
3 XP when you triumph over the trouble your recklessness has brought, or when you learn a lesson in defeat.
10 XP when your recklessness costs you something important, or when you set aside youthful antics to persevere in a serious situation.
History:Dante is the one of the legendary demon Sparda's twin sons. He lost his mother at a young age, a tragedy that drove a rift between him and Vergil, but not before his mother instilled in him a good heart and a strong spirit. Unlike Vergil, the tragedy only drove Dante to fight against such injustices. He even went so far as to form a devil-hunting business, though his very first case was a big one. Vergil and the occultist Arkham raised an ancient demon tower with the master plan of reclaiming the power of Sparda. Dante was drawn into the battle, along with "Lady", a human hunter of great talent and a hatred of demons.
They fought one another at first, but ultimately Lady realized that Dante was not like most demons, and had only good intentions. He battled his own brother to stop the plan, but they were all deceived by Arkham, who sought Sparda's power for himself. Dante teamed up with Vergil to take down Arkham so that they could resume their brotherly battle. It was interrupted, however, by the dimensions collapsing around them, Vergil plunging into the abyss of the demon world. Thinking his brother dead, Dante wept, causing Lady to muse that even a devil may cry when he loses a loved one, and thus was born the name of Dante's business.
Dante took on many cases, including one that brought him against the demon emperor Mundus. Lured by a reluctant Trish, one of Mundus' demons made to look like Dante's mother, Dante journeyed to the castle where Mundus would make his return. He encountered tragedy there, meeting his brother, transformed by Mundus into a horrible demon called Nelo Angelo. Dante was forced to kill his own brother, but went on to kill Mundus and free Trish.
Afterward, Dante and Trish went into business hunting demons together with Lady.
Personality:Though he has matured some after his many adventures, Dante always has a flippant attitude. Never afraid to run his mouth, Dante has a way of getting under the skin of demons and humans alike. Despite his sarcasm, Dante is a good man at heart, willing to go out of his way to to help others, even showing kindness to some of his enemies. He honestly desires to make the world a better place and fights to ensure that comes to pass. His attitude is not helped by his bad luck with women, who often tend to shoot him or attack him in some way, though Dante's charm wins more than a few over in the end, such as Nevan and Lady.
Abilities and Resources:Dante is the half-demon son of Sparda and Eva, a human woman. He has inherited much of his father's great power, but has the kind heart of his mother. In fact, it is this ability to care about others that lends him much of his power, as he surmised over the course of his battles.
He has superhuman strength, sufficient to shatter boulders with his fists and overpower even large demons, as well as weather physical punishment that would kill any mortal creature. He is nearly bulletproof, having once endured a bullet between the eyes, and then another bullet fired striking the first one, with little more than discomfort. His speed and reflexes are well beyond human capacity, allowing him to perform feats of acrobatics that equal any Olympian's, as well as shoot a single bullet precisely placed to strike billiard balls in midair and send them flying in a chain of impacts at different foes. He can regenerate from wounds at a frightening rate, making him difficult to put down. Dante is even capable of dodging bullets and leaping tremendous distances.
Dante's weapons are many, but he is never without his trademark pistols, Ebony and Ivory, and a sword used by his father, Rebellion. He is skilled with all manner of weapons, both mortal and demonic, and is a skilled martial artist.
Like Vergil, Dante can Devil Trigger, transforming into a powerful demonic form for a limited time. His demonic potential is nearly limitless, surpassing even that of Vergil's, as he has demonstrated multiple transformations, including the invincible Majin form.
