ID: Rick Taylor (Secret)
History:Rick Taylor was a strange young man, prone to flights of fancy and delusions. He was fortunate, however, in meeting Jennifer Willis, a girl with a wild streak who nonetheless loved him. Several years passed and their relationship bloomed, and Rick planned to ask Jen to marry him. Jen, however, had been asked to the West Mansion to interview Dr. West, an enigmatic and eccentric old scientist. It was a trick: Dr. West kidnapped Jen, the spitting image of his late wife Leonora, to use her as a sacrifice in his mad desire to destroy life as we know it. Having lost his wife to witch persecution, rendered immortal by his own experiments, Dr. West prayed and his God didn't answer... but
They did. The Corrupted. Unfathomably powerful and evil entities from outside the physical universe, they poisoned West's mind. He decided to bring an end to all mortal suffering... by bringing an end to all mortal existence.
Rick was mortally wounded during the attack, and as he lay bleeding out, a strange sacrificial mask West assumed to be Aztec or Mayan spoke to him. Called the Terror Mask, the spirit inside it offered Rick the chance to save Jen and stop Dr. West. Rick accepted and the Mask made good on its promise of power, turning Rick into an unstoppable, hulking monster. Rick then splattered his way through the mansion and its grounds, even through portals into hellish worlds and through time.
At last, Rick confronted Dr. West, saved Jen and prevented the sacrifice. Even so, the gateway between worlds opened and a Corrupted one appeared. Rick then learned the truth: the spirit of the Mask was once a slave of the Corrupted who escaped through a miniscule crack in reality. In order to have its revenge, it needed to manipulate Rick into helping it. Jen's sacrifice was prevented, but it was never about just one sacrifice. Thousands were needed, the thousands Rick butchered on his way to save Jen. Though Rick and the Terror Mask slew the Corrupted one, their deal was far from finished, for some evil had entered Jen in the process.
The fight for her life was over, but the fight for her soul was just beginning...
Personality:Rick is a quiet and odd young man, but caring and compassionate. He loves Jen and honestly regrets the mistakes he's made, and wanted nothing but to marry the girl who opened his heart to the world.
By contrast, the Terror Mask is sarcastic, cruel and bloodthirsty. It revels in the bloodshed and constantly pushes Rick to embrace the violence. Capable of reading his mind and knowing the dark secrets in his heart, the Mask enjoys taunting both Rick and the monsters they slay together. Its motives are far from pure, and when confronted with the opportunity to obtain its revenge, its eons-old anger boils to the surface.
Abilities and Resources:Rick on his own has little but his creativity. The Terror Mask, however, offers tremendous power to its host. It transforms the host into a muscular behemoth with strength enough to brutalize towering demons, shatter stone and even catch meteors (a fact that Rick was rather proud of). This power can be further amplified by going Berserk, wherein the Mask briefly allows the host access to its full power. In this state, Rick becomes even larger and covered in bone spurs and spikes, blades and other assorted nastiness. Few demons can stand against a Berserk Rick, such that even the mild-mannered Rick comes to appreciate the power offered by the Mask. Even grievous injuries like dismemberment and otherwise fatal wounds can be regenerated by the Mask and the host never tires.
