The Night Dimension is the source of dream, and therein can all fears, hopes, loves and ideas be found. Infinite possibilities exist within dreams—infinite in their capacity to imagine, and in their capacity for terror. The Night Dimension is not always gentle, nor is it kind, for it contains Nightmare, most ancient well of all dreaming fears. At the heart of this black realm exists its lord and creator, called WIZEMAN THE WICKED, timeless and remorseless in his crafting of nightmares. He hungers eternally for realms even more boundless than that of Nightmare: he would rule the waking world as well, lord of all creation. Wizeman's power is tied to his realm; without him, it should not exist, and without it, he would have no power to affect the universe. Yet there are options, other sources of power in the cosmos.
The CHAOS EMERALDS are one such source, perhaps the greatest source. They connect to the primal power of Chaos, the formless wellspring from which all reality is born. Each contains a fraction of that limitless energy, but when all seven come together, they command ultimate power. Mortals become gods, and gods shape their desires into reality. All things are possible through Chaos.
Wizeman knows this; he has seen it, in the dreams of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG. The heroic hedgehog has used the powers of Chaos to battle world-eating monstrosities, villainous machine empires and dark impostors from other realms. As Wizeman looks upon these dreams of crackling might, he bristles at the mortal's simplemindedness.
"The hedgehog wields this power as though it were but a tool. He squanders ultimate potential. I will not." Wizeman sends spinning through the dark visions of distant realms and times, some pulled from Sonic's dreams, some from the primordial darkness of Nightmare. "Only one so worthy deserves to be a god. He thinks the gems a tool, but I will make him a tool for my own victory." His multiple hands hover about him in dark space, each grasping a hazy globe containing a nightmare realm. "If I cannot journey to that world of light and wakefulness, let them come here. Chaos transcends boundaries. Chaos begets creation. Let him gather the Emeralds, and let me pull his soul into my realm. Even dream-reflections of the Chaos Emeralds share their power, which defies the bonds of any physical shell."
Wizemans bends his dark thought toward Sonic the Hedgehog, who lies slumbering beneath a tree in a distant world. "None resist my power in this realm!" He pours all of his malevolent hunger into the sleeping mortal, and Sonic's dreams begin to change. Joyous meetings with friends and delicious chili dogs give way to towering metropolises which in turn give way to ruinous fire. As the hedgehog falls within the grasp of Nightmare, Wizeman utters a heartless laugh. "Come to me, little hedgehog, and deliver unto me the power I seek!"
One of his disembodied hands floats into view, holding within it a vision of a frozen realm. "But not alone. Only you can make this power real, but you must succeed. You will have help, yes, someone to fight for—someone whose nightmares long slaked my thirst." Within that dreamscape he sees ELSA THE SNOW QUEEN sleeping soundly in her royal chambers. "Your dreams of cold and fear ever gave me strength, little queen. You think you have conquered them, but I would see them reborn! Your icy magic will aid the hedgehog in his quest... my quest... and then my rule will last without end."
All of the Night Dimension trembled at the thunderous sound of Wizeman's laughter.
Hello and welcome to my latest and greatest MHR scenario: WAY PAST FROZEN. This one is going to blow all the others away like an icy blast. It's a three-act scenario starring SONIC THE HEDGEHOG and ELSA THE SNOW QUEEN. Why those two? Well, because I like them both a lot and I think it'll be a fun team-up. They're going to face nightmarish realms and creatures as pawns in a scheme by WIZEMAN THE WICKED. As the creator of Nightmare (and villain of the incredible NiGHTS INTO DREAMS), he's always seeking to rule the waking world, as well. Now he might have that chance, through the unlimited power of the Chaos Emeralds! He makes sure Sonic calls upon their power and scatters them into the Night Dimension.
This first Act sees two Action Scenes transpire, both of them revolving around a foe from Sonic's past: IBLIS, THE FLAMES OF DISASTER. Ripped from Sonic's deepest nightmares, Iblis serves as a tool to unite the two heroes and send them on their quest. He'll probably serve as an obstacle to the final Chaos Emerald, too. Sonic and Elsa will have go gather all seven Emeralds to free Arendelle from Iblis' terror—and themselves from the grip of this nightmare. The rest of the plot will unfold as we take a journey into dreams full of action, humor and some cool heroics.
This scenario will also have its own Milestone, as I aim to show off every facet of the system here.

You journey through the world of dreams in order to stop the schemes of Nightmare's cruel master. Only the power of the Chaos Emeralds can make that dream come true.
1 XP when you overcome one of Nightmare's assets or you make an asset for your ally to use in overcoming Nightmare.
3 XP when you reclaim a Chaos Emerald from a Nightmare realm, or suffer a D12+ complication from one of the nightmares.
10 XP when you bring all seven CHAOS EMERALDS together and confront WIZEMAN THE WICKED.
