ID: Hercules (Public)
History:Hercules is the son of Zeus and Hera, born on Mount Olympus as a god. An evil scheme hatched by Zeus' jealous brother Hades nearly cost Hercules his life, when he was stolen from his crib and made to drink a poison that stole his divinity. Thanks to the interference of a mortal couple, Amphytryon and Alcmene, Hercules was spared from drinking the final drop, and so retained his godly strength. Growing up as "different" as he was, Herc was no stranger to trouble. His lack of control over his own tremendous strength caused much collateral damage, and before long he was regarded as a "freak" and menace.
After discovering the truth of his adoption, Hercules set out to find a temple of Zeus, to pray for answers. He received them when Zeus himself appeared and told Hercules of his heritage. Unfortunately, as a mortal, Hercules could no longer return to Olympus. However, if he could prove himself a true hero, he could regain his godly stature and return to his true home. In order to learn how to be just such a hero, Zeus directed his son to see Philoctetes, a satyr and trainer of champions.
Though Phil was at first reluctant to train Hercules, after suffering so many disappointments with the heroes before him, a little (cattle) prodding from Zeus and witness Herc's incomparable strength convinced him to change his mind. For years Herc trained under Phil's tutelage, with a little help from his childhood friend, the Pegasus, and grew into a mighty godling. During his training, he encountered the woman Megara and even his indomitable strength fell victim to her womanly wiles. Smitten by her beauty and her attitude, little does Herc realize there is much more to Meg than meets the eye...
Now on his way to Thebes to prove himself the hero Greece needs, Hercules finds his attention divided between his desire to be a hero and the allure of a sultry woman. His destiny awaits.
Personality:Herc, a.k.a. "Wonder Boy", as Meg calls him, is an idealistic and optimistic young man. He's also quite naive in his innocence, something which Hades and his goons use many times to maneuver him into a trap. Hercules has a kind and compassionate heart, and so willingly throws himself into great danger in order to help others. He always wants to see the best in a person and in a situation, and does his level best to make things better however he can.
Abilities and Resources:Though the magic potion concocted by Hades stole most of his power, Hercules retained his godlike strength. He is far and away the most physically powerful mortal on Earth, capable of overpowering terrible monsters like hydras, lions (like Scar) and other dread beasts. He threw a shield made for someone Talos' size like a discus clear over the horizon. Hercules is also very durable, able to weather blows from such monsters that would fell lesser men, remaining strong where exhaustion would claim others.
Thanks to his training with Phil, Hercules has even learned how to (mostly) control his godly strength, as well as skill with a sword and shield.
